Digital Advertising Dominates Record Breaking UK Ad Spend

UK Ad spend hit a record £21.4bn last year, which is a 3.9% rise from 2015, but it was digital advertising which dominated the market.
The new figures which have been released by the Advertising Association and Warc suggests the advertising industry is growing at a steady rate.
It was digital advertising which saw the greatest rise in spend with a 13.4% increase from the previous year to reach £10.3bn. Interestingly, mobile devices caused 99% of the rise in digital advertising, proving the importance of having a responsive website.
Advertising which was spent primarily for mobile platforms witnessed an extraordinary rise of 45.4%, taking it’s ad spend to £3.9bn alone.

Future For Digital Advertising
Forecasts predict digital ad spend will rise 9.5% in 2017 and will account for half of all UK advertising spend, making it the single most powerful platform.
Digital Advertising includes ads served on social media websites such as Facebook, Google, Twitter, etc. The cost of internet ads may increase as the demand also rises, however it would appear confidence in adverts is also growing as sales figures continue to increase.
Start Digital Ads Campaign
If you’re considering starting a digital advertising campaign it’s important to understand the demographics which you would like to target the advert towards.
The time of day when the advert is published can make or break the entire campaign, so it’s important to have a clear strategy first.
At Northstar we also ensure we understand the goal of the advert; this may be to drive sales, raise awareness or promote the brand. Once we understand the goals and demographics we are better positioned to maximise the success rate of each advert.
