Dyson Makes Record Breaking Profits
Innovative engineering company Dyson has made record breaking profits in 2010 it was revealed. The company made £887million, up 9% on the previous year.
Despite the turbulent economic climate it seems Dyson is able to ride the storm – so how are they doing it?
To their credit, Dyson realised one thing – once you own the greatest hoover on the market do you really need another one?
When you evaluate the value of Dyson it’s not their hoover which is the most valuable element of the business, it’s their creativity and powerful technology. This technology could be applied to other industries and that’s exactly the strategy the company has implemented.
The Dyson Hand dryer
Dyson suggest in 2010 their profits increased because of investment in research and development (£45million). This research told them the hand dryer market had gaps which could be exploited.
The Dyson airblade hand dryer was developed and is available in 34 countries including China. The fans provide one of the best quality hand dryers in the market, which has proven popular in the business industry. In Japan, sales of the airblade dryer are up 150%.
