Everyone’s got an App
Smart phone Apps are ‘all the rage’ these days and many businesses now have one. However does every company need one?
Tesco is the latest to release its grocery app – shopping on the move. For many this will be a god-send and they will have been given the gift of time. Having tested the tesco app I can concure it will be a time-saver… when I get the hang of it!
So, should every company have an app?
My thought is no. Marketing is about communication to the right people, at the right time and at a cost suitable for them. Each company should assess their customers before building an App – does your customer actually want or need a quicker or more convenient solution to purchase from you?
One client of North Star had a product which required the consumer to think long and hard about purchasing the product due to the relatively high price. Whilst an App was requested, it was shelved as the consumer wanted to see, touch and question the product in person – not over a phone.
